Got a stack of American Express Membership Rewards points, but not sure how to do a transfer to their partner hotel and airline programs?
Here are the simple steps that you will need to follow.
Step 1: Log in to your American Express Membership Rewards Account
Head to the travel partner page and click ‘Log In / Enrol’ in the top right corner.
You’ll then land on the main login screen. Enter your details, login, and you’ll then automatically be redirected back to the partner page.
Step 2: Choose a transfer partner
The partner page lists the airline and hotel partners that you can transfer to. Click on ‘Transfer Points’ beneath the partner that you’re interested in.
Step 3: Enter the number of points that you want to transfer
Assuming you have already linked the travel partner to your Membership Rewards account, simply enter the number of points that you want to transfer (in accordance with the minimum transfer amount shown) and click ‘Transfer Points’.
Once submitted, you will land on a confirmation screen.
And you will receive a confirmation email.
Step 4: Transfer complete
Once your transfer request is completed, you will receive a similar email, though the status will be updated to show as ‘Complete’.
In this example, while the initial email suggested that the Qantas Points transfer could take three to fourteen business days, I received the completion email the following day:
The American Express Membership Rewards program is one of the most flexible programs to earn points with. They have a great range of travel transfer partners, unrivalled by any other credit card issuer in New Zealand.
As you can see from the steps above, transferring your points to their many partners is very straightforward.
To make the process easier, remember to link your accounts once you receive your card. Also be sure to check award availability before you transfer your points, to make sure seats or hotel rooms are available.
