Digging into the benefits of the Flight Centre Mastercard

You’ll earn 2 Flight Centre Rewards per $100 on eligible spend at Flight Centre, and 1 Flight Centre Reward per $100 everywhere else uncapped.

There is no advertised minimum income requirement.

Flight Centre Rewards can be redeemed on any on any airline, hotel, tour, cruise, car hire or sightseeing products or services offered at Flight Centre. This is automatic – simply use your card to pay in-store or online, and the Rewards will automatically credit your account.

Any unused Flight Centre Rewards will expire 3 years after the date they are earned.

Boingo Wi-Fi benefit

You can stay connected while travelling thanks to Boingo Wi-Fi for Mastercard Cardholders, provided by Flight Centre Mastercard.

It is a benefit befitting of a travel-agent branded credit card, being the only Mastercard product in New Zealand to offer this feature.

This very handy benefit gives you unlimited access to over one million Wi-Fi hotspots around the world – including here in New Zealand – on up to four devices, at no added cost.

If you’ve already got the card, you can get started simply by registering through the Boingo Wi-Fi site. You’ll just need to provide your Flight Centre Mastercard number, and once that’s confirmed, fill out a short registration form.

But what about Airpoints?

The Flight Centre Mastercard offers a rewards program that is not too dissimilar from Air New Zealand Airpoints.

It is easy to compare value between the programs on a strict dollar value basis – 1 Flight Centre Reward and 1 Airpoints Dollars both equal $1 NZD on flight redemptions.

However, a key advantage with the Flight Centre Mastercard is that you are not restricted to redeeming points with Air New Zealand and their partners.

You will also continue to earn standard points and status on bookings made with Flight Centre, plus further Flight Centre Rewards on any remaining cash portion of the booking.

Summing up: the Flight Centre Mastercard

This card is a good option for those looking for an alternative to the Airpoints program, but with more flexibility of where you can redeem points.

The 0% international transaction fee and free Boingo W-Fi are also great features, with both being New Zealand firsts.
